Sucker Brook Restoration 2008
Sucker Brook Restoration 2008
The area around the mouth of Sucker Brook where it enters the Nissitissit River had been severely damaged by illegal ATV’s crossing the stream.
This 2008 project on Sucker Brook was to rebuild and stabilize the stream banks due to erosion. The project began by setting silt barriers and fencing. With volunteers we removed sand from the mouth of Sucker Brook and relocated it to higher ground to improve stream flow. We added fill and planted vegetation to stabilize the stream bank. We also fenced off the area so the vegetation could get a foothold. As the pictures below will show, there was a great turnout with lots of hard work done that day by everyone involved.
